The "Combine Shipments" page is an exclusive Papugai innovation within SmartShip.NET™ that saves money
on shipping for e-commmerce customers every day. This benefit serves as part of an overall strategy to win customer loyalty by finding ways to shop easier and save money on costly shipping.














In addition to selecting alternative arrival dates, the Order Shipping Confirmation page also serves to allow customers to edit their order many different ways.

1. Add gift wrapping to a shipment.
2. Change recipient or account holder information.
3. Add special instructions of gift message.
4. Change product quantities or remove products
5. Add promotional (coupon) code (which displays applicable discount)

Papugai's SmartShip.NET™ shipping module allows users to specify exact arrival dates for shipments within an order.

Using simple calendar, users choose from  logical arrival dates. Both "fastest" and "cheapest" dates are designated by the software for simple reference, but the user can choose any available delivery date as indicated by blue colored dates.

Orange indicates the chosen date and the details about shipment method and price are instantly available for the customer to review.

E-commerce Shipping, Simplified.

SmartShip.NET™ was invented and released by Papugai in early 2002 and has seen several updates over the years. This powerful shipping module elegantly complements our core e-commerce product, SmartCommerce.NET™ and comes standard with all e-commerce implementations for our clients. SmartShip.NET™ has many powerful functions, including management of perishable products, arrival date logic, ship method intelligence, shipment combining and more.

Here's how it works...

SHOPPING CART PAGE
Starting at the shopping cart page, the customer assigns recipients to products. This is how we arrive at the destination zip code for each shipment within the order.

COMBINE SHIPMENTS PAGE
If an order has multiple items going to a single recipient, it's possible that some of these items have different lead times or perishability values that would necessitate "splitting" a shipment into multiple shipments. This is similar to a typical back-order scenario, allowing some items to be shipped right away, while others later on due to a longer lead time value assigned to a certain products — and still other products may need to be shipped via a different shipping method altogether due to perishability values assigned to them in the products admin tool.

In the screen capture below, we see that this order, destined for a single recipient, has been split into three separate shipments due to various circumstances as described above. The customer has the option to either leave all three shipments separate, or to "combine" these three shipments into a single shipment (as shown on the right side), to be delivered on the slightly later arrival date shown.

As you can see, choosing to combine the shipments also renders the exact dollar amount ($16.60 in this example) that the customer will save as a result of making this "shipment combining" decision.

ORDER CONFIRMATION PAGE
On the order confirmation page, it is revealed to the customer that their shipment is automatically set to the lowest-cost shipping method, based on the requirements of the products selected, and is scheduled to arrive on he fastest possible date for that shipping method. However, the customer can change that arrival date if desired by clicking on the calendar icon under "Shipping Options." See both screen captures below.

The screen capture shows the SmartShip calendar in action. Customers are able to simply roll over each square in the calendar to get the exact shipping cost and ship method for each shipment. Notice that all non-logical arrival dates are grayed out and are not selectable. Customers can schedule shipments as far out as desired by clicking on the arrows to choose a date in a future month.
