This position comes with the highest expectation for professional excellence and IT management standards. Chosen candidate will manage and maintain our existing systems and plan our growth phases over time.
Chosen candidate will work with creatives, software engineers, marketers, and soon other IT staff under their leadership. We have local IT concerns, but our hosting and development environments, affecting many important Papugai clients, will be the primary concern of this position. Chosen candidate will manage, maintain and improve our e-commerce host network over time. This includes management of web servers, SQL servers, domain controllers, IIS, DNS, file servers, back-up solutions, work stations, phone systems, wireless systems, routers, firewalls, point-to-point connections, bonded sets of T1s, the connection to our fiber pipe, as well as Papugai’s local area network and other related IT concerns.
Customer support will also be of paramount concern. Chosen candidate will answer client emails and attempt to solve problems as they arise. In some cases of complex bugs or other advanced issues, chosen candidate will forward the concern to our engineering team for further investigation. Papugai is committed to customer service excellence. Chosen candidate will be empowered to make judgment calls to best serve our clients’ needs.
We also expect regular planning and reporting from this department. Chosen candidate will work closely with multiple vice presidents and managers to establish financial planning and other priorities for the IT department as a whole. The extent and sophistication of the IT department’s planning will evolve over time and the chosen candidate will eventually establish regular budgeting for the division. When needed, other IT professionals will apply for other positions that the chosen candidate will create for Papugai as the need arises. We will need you to use careful judgment when finding these individuals to work under the guidance and leadership of the chosen candidate, as they will also have access to our sensitive files, proprietary technologies and equipment. We will expect the chosen candidate to manage and maintain a set of top-level standards and enforce the adherence of those standards at all times.

Do you love technology and have a passion about customer satisfaction and the user experience?
In this position you will provide senior level telephone and e-mail technical support for Papugai projects, perform bug verification, and debug and fix code as needed.
In addition, this position will help manage, develop and implement quality assurance standards, processes, and methods for testing and training as well as evaluate production capabilities and recommend improvements. This position also directly implements quality assurance standards and is responsible for production deployments of projects and project updates.
Requires strong knowledge of technology, is considered technically savvy, takes ownership of their position's responsibilities and the company's goals, and is able to learn quickly. Our ideal Technical Support / Quality Assurance Engineer is an active contributor in a collaborative team environment, and is passionate about process, the quality of our work, our clients, and our culture.
This position directly reports to the VP technology.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide senior level telephone and e-mail technical support to our clients
- Identify and report software defects
- Work with developers to investigate and correct defects and/or fix directly as needed
- Develop Quality Assurance standards and processes
- Manage project deployments to multiple servers and execute required quality assurance processes
- Assist in maintaining web application environment configurations across all servers
- Provide operational support for production environments (may include being on-call after hours)
- Be part of a team that applies the latest Internet technologies in creating world class web sites for our clients
Required Skills:
- 2+ years prior technical support experience, dealing with technically complex questions in a well structured and professional fashion (preferably in Software Development Company).
- 1+ years prior software quality assurance and/or testing experience
- Some website programming and debugging experience in a work environment (ex. C#, ASP.NET, HTML)
- Experience using automation and version control tools
- Knowledge of Object Oriented development, Microsoft technologies, databases, and networking
- Creative problem solver
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attentive to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong team player
- Ability and desire to thrive in a fast-paced, client-service environment
- Savvy and experienced e-commerce user -- and strong aptitude for understanding user interface functionality, logic and controls for e-commerce websites

Key responsibilities include designing and developing new and enhanced data driven Web Applications. We place a premium on user experience with our applications, so do not apply for this position if you do not enjoy working with UI design and implementation. Additional responsibilities include working with other developers and designers, functional testing of work and interfaces, and following specifications and standards. This position will also require the developer to work directly with clients to diagnose bugs, track them down, and fix them.
Preferred candidates must have:
- 2 or more years of proven Web development experience (solid ASP.NET, non-WYSIWYG HTML, CSS, and cross browser/platform JavaScript knowledge).
- Knowledge of SQL Server 2000, T-SQL, and stored procedure programming highly desirable.
- Must have a firm understanding of object oriented development and practices.
- Previous experience working with relational databases (MSQL 2000) is preferred.
- Proven record of designing and developing secure, high-performance, and high-quality web sites.
- Strong communication skills along with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment required.
- Must have acute attention to detail and be able to work as a team player.
- Must be highly motivated, a quick learner, and able to handle multiple tasks at once.
- Bachelor's degree in CS or relevant experience preferred.

Further tasks include working with other developers, designers, and managers on the development and support of enterprise projects, following and maintaining specifications and standards, and working with clients to diagnose and resolve issues.
Preferred candidates must have:
- 4 or more years of development experience using the .NET framework).
- 2 or more years of RDBMS development experience using SQL Server 2000, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, DDL and DML.
- Direct experience with XML/XSLT, Web Services, and Enterprise Integration projects.
- Solid skills and experience in a Windows OS environment including Windows 2000/2003 Server, IIS, and SQL Server 2000.
- Proven record of designing and developing secure, high-performance, and high-quality Web Applications and/or Web Services
- Strong communication skills along with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment required.
- Must have strong attention to detail and be able to work as a team player.
- Must be highly motivated, a quick learner, and able to handle multiple tasks at once.
